Support for Children and Families

Family ACCESS Counseling and Consultation Services provides comprehensive clinical services and social-emotional supports to parents and their young children (0-5 years of age), with the goal of strengthening family relationships and reaching individuals’ full potential.

For more than 30 years, Counseling and Consultation Services has been committed to serving families in Newton, Framingham, and surrounding communities. The success of our multiple programs lies in the positive and supportive relationships with families and our focus on how parents best facilitate their young child’s development in all areas.

Families reach out to us with needs that include:
  • Complex Pregnancy and parenting challenges
  • Difficulty managing basic needs of household
  • Support with transition to parenting for young adults
  • Infants’ and children’s social emotional concerns (such as tantrums, difficult transitions, separation, grief)
  • Cross-cultural parenting for teens or young adults
  • Impact of parental mental health (anxiety, depression, marital stress) on young children
  • Culturally relevant and evidence based parenting support groups

We partner with parents and their community to create individual services with an understanding of the family’s strengths and unique challenges. Our creative service model is based upon respectful and trusting long-term relationships with families and provides sustainable interventions that impact the quality of a family’s life.

Young Parent Support

Pregnant teens and young parents receive specialized support to be able to better care for their new family.  The program focuses on enhancing their parenting skills and the parent-infant attachment relationship.  We also work to ensure that young parents recognize their own needs and achieve their own goals for education, job training, and engagement in healthy relationships.

Young Parenting Support Services for pregnant women or young parents (under age 25)

  • Case management with referrals to community providers and concrete resources
  • Counseling during the transition to parenthood
  • Support with accessing services (ie. WIC, education, work, housing, immigration related concerns)
  • Parent coaching and mentoring
  • Help with complex family situations
  • Advocacy for clients within state and local agencies and organizations
